Closer to the Classroom: Book your place at our new event series
Qualifications Scotland is excited to announce the launch of its first annual in-person practitioner event series — Closer to the Classroom.
Alongside dedicated sessions for Qualifications Co-ordinators, Qualifications Scotland is also launching separate afternoon events designed specifically for teachers.
"These events are a genuine opportunity for teachers and coordinators to shape the future of qualifications in Scotland," said Sarah Brown, Senior Advisor in Qualifications Scotland's School Partnership Team. "We want to hear directly from the people working in classrooms every day — their insights are invaluable as we move forward with qualification reform."
The new teacher sessions reflect Qualifications Scotland’s commitment to consistent, responsive engagement with schools – ensuring teachers have a direct voice in shaping qualifications and assessment, and that decision-making puts learners firmly at its centre.
Teachers attending the afternoon sessions can expect a rich programme of professional dialogue, covering the strategic direction of Qualifications Scotland, a focused session on the design principles behind new qualifications where feedback will directly inform the approach taken, and interactive discussions on the impact of AI, evolving Quality Assurance models, and Digital Awarding.
With one teacher place available per centre, this is a targeted, high-quality experience where every voice in the room counts. Teachers are encouraged to come ready to share their perspectives and contribute to conversations that will directly shape the future of qualifications in Scotland.
In-person events are taking place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 3 June, and in Glasgow on Thursday 4 June, with teacher sessions running from 13:00 – 15:30 on both days. A further online teacher session is also available on Tuesday 16 June from 16:00 – 17:00.
Places are limited, so register and book your place now.
